Sam and Cody’s story began in July 2022, with a simple swipe on Hinge, where a shared sense of humor and easy conversation sparked a connection neither of them expected. What started as a few messages turned into countless hours of getting to know each other, and they quickly realized they had found something special.

Cody’s dog, Amber, knew they were meant to be from the start. As if on cue, she jumped into Sam’s backseat with her dog, Jax, when leaving their first date at Bass Lake Dog Park, making it clear that she approved of this new connection. From that moment, it was clear that their bond was something real—and Amber was on board for the ride ahead.

Fast forward through the next few years of growing, supporting, and learning from each other, Sam and Cody navigated both the highs and the challenges of life together—broken bones, foxtails, job changes, and all. Through every moment, they remained each other's biggest cheerleaders. As they looked toward the future, they decided to build a house together—affectionately calling their empty lot their “pile of dirt.” Spoiler alert: that pile of dirt would soon turn into the foundation of their forever.

On August 24, 2024, while enjoying a stroll along a cliffside golf course in Kauai, Hawaii, Cody appeared to be setting up for a picture. But he was secretly preparing to capture one of their most unforgettable moments. As Sam turned to smile for the camera, she was pleasantly surprised to find Cody down on one knee. With the stunning ocean as their backdrop, Cody asked Sam to be his wife, marking the start of a beautiful new chapter in their lives. It was a perfect, intimate moment—well, almost, if you don't count the old man sitting nearby, smoking a cigar and offering his congratulations.
